Meet Margrit...

Equally comfortable at the easel, loom or wheel, Margrit Olson is passionate about her art and design. 

A lifetime of thoughtful observation and a fascination with light, colour, movement and surface treatment has found expression in her textile designs, ceramics and encaustic paintings. 

Painted on wood panels or rag paper and at a scale determined by the process of working with a molten wax,  each encaustic painting evokes its' own connection between the viewer and the landscape.

When I am not painting, you will find me either at one of my looms, a potters wheel, or hunched over the table exploring fabric and sewing.

Margrit's current creative vent is the exploration of locally inspired landscapes, abstracted and expressed with her unique approach to encaustic painting. Drawing upon her earlier multi-media painting experience, she blends filtered bee's wax, oil pigments and employs a broad range of traditional and non-traditional tools to develop these evocative images of Bruce and Grey counties.
